Oxtail & Anime

As the Director of Photography for Oxtail & Anime, I had the opportunity to bring a unique blend of cultural storytelling and dynamic visuals to life. This project, which fuses the rich traditions of Caribbean culture with the vibrant world of anime, required a creative and visually innovative approach to cinematography.

My role as DP was to ensure that each frame captured the essence of both worlds—vivid, detailed, and full of energy. From the warmth of traditional Caribbean cooking to the excitement of animated action, I used lighting, camera angles, and composition to weave together the authenticity of the culture with the animated, larger-than-life spirit of anime. The challenge was balancing these contrasting elements while maintaining a consistent visual style that would resonate with the audience.

In Oxtail & Anime, every scene was an opportunity to merge storytelling with cinematic artistry. I focused on capturing the unique textures of both the food and animation, using specialized lighting techniques to make the vibrant colors of the dishes pop while ensuring that the dynamic anime sequences were equally compelling. Each shot was designed to evoke emotion and engage viewers with both the storyline and the stunning visuals.
